Ordinary kids doing extraordinary things

The Flying Fruit Fly Circus School is a year 3-10 state government school working in a symbolic relationship with the Flying Fruit Fly Circus located in Albury. The circus was established in 1979 and the school became its educational arm in 1987.

A select entry school, students who wish to enrol must take part in the Saturday Circus Arts Program run by the Circus. After a successful audition, students are automatically enrolled in the school.

The school provides a challenging and comprehensive curriculum based on the Victorian Essential Learning Standards with flexibility to meet the needs of individual students and the demands of circus training and performance. The special focus is fostering creativity, confidence and individuality through circus, the visual and performing arts.

Academically, the 60 students receive individual attention in small, multi-age groups with specialist support from drama and music teachers, and many visiting practicing artists.

The broader community utilises the Flying Fruit Fly Circus students for many public performances. They are frequently asked to present workshops or give talks to their peers at other schools. Local businesses issue invitations to openings, corporate shows and festivals.

The school enjoys enormous support from its parent body by way of classroom assistance, fundraising, library assistance, sport coaching, running of electives and chaperoning on excursions and tours.

The school is an annex of the Wodonga Middle Years College and is located on the Felltimber site in a new ecologically friendly building opened in 2006, purpose built to suit the performing and visual art curriculum.
