Melrose Primary School
*Know Yourself *Choose Yourself *Give Yourself

Our school is a stimulating and vibrant learning community. Every classroom is well-equipped with computers and Interactive Smartboards to promote learning through ICT. Our children are stimulated and challenged to achieve their personal best through our belief that “we come to school to better ourselves, not be better than each other”. Our families are our partners in this journey, and play an active role in our school community.
Our vision is: Educating Hearts and Minds because we believe our role in the education pathway is to ensure our children leave primary school with strong foundations in literacy, numeracy and social-emotional intelligence. These skills enable children to succeed in secondary school where they begin their pathways for later life.
We have been extremely successful in achieving our goals, and have been recognised for our efforts and successes at the National, State and Regional level:
- National Outstanding Literacy Achievement Award
- State Literacy Achievement Award
- Regional Permission to Shine Student Wellbeing Award
Our Emotional Intelligence (EQ) program is an innovative addition to our core curriculum. It involves a daily one-hour classroom lesson called the EQ Hour from Years P-6. During this hour, children are taught the skills of self awareness, self management, social awareness, and social management. The direct teaching of these skills creates a ripple effect, where children develop a range of virtues such as persistence, optimism, courage, empathy, determination and many more.
Our parents, staff and students enjoy the many opportunities that come from being a part of our school community. We are very proud of our school culture and we warmly invite you to visit us to see for yourself the range of features that make our school a great school! Ask us about our many programs including: specialist subjects, additional assistance, lunchtime activities, leadership, school policies, grade placements, transition, after school care, student wellbeing, parent interview, reporting, cultural performances, choir, healthy living, parent education, community events, student voice, parent voice, academic goal setting, defence Force Transition Aid and Primary Welfare Officer.
