Middle Indigo Primary School
Rural Living, Learning and Beyond

Middle Indigo Primary School, located 32 kilometres from Wodonga, is a rural school surrounded by farmland and close to the Indigo Creek and was established in 1874 with the main school building replaced in 1961. With funds from Investing In Our Schools Grant and A Community Water Grant, School Council has built new environmentally friendly toilet facilities, established a new courtyard and externally renovated our main building. The school has large well maintained grounds with a covered outdoor recreation area, a small oval and tennis court, a sealed games area, well equipped shaded playground, sandpit, shady native garden and a children’s vegetable garden.
Middle Indigo Primary School also participates in programs such as Arts Festival, Waterwatch, swimming, athletics, skiing, cross country and team sports with children participating in cluster groups, district and regional events. Students are taught in small multi-age groups, small year level groups or as larger multi-age class. The small multi-age group builds a sense of tolerance, self-discipline, responsibility, respect and caring for each other.
At Middle Indigo we have low class sizes. We have visiting Art, Library, Music and Religious Education teachers as well as parents as tutors and numerous project coordinators and visitors.
In the future we will continue to ensure that all children are extended and supported to improve their achievement within the framework of the Victorian Essential Learning Standards. We will promote and maintain a positive, caring and safe environment that encourages self-esteem, responsibility, a mutual respect for others and engenders active community participation. We are a family and community orientated school with a desire for happy, challenged students, working, learning and living in their own environment.
