Wodonga South Primary School prides itself on emphasising a child-centred approach to teaching and learning. The school organisation recognises the benefits of multi-age groupings with cross-age and peer tutoring. Co-operative classrooms optimise the possibilities for learning through the teacher, the children, the parents and the many resources available in a complex community. Attention is given to the individual needs and development of each child in an effort to encourage the achievement of excellence in their field of interest.

The school has outgrown its current site and is being completely redesigned and built on a green site in the new White Box Rise Estate. The new school is being designed as a Community School and will include Infant Welfare, Childcare, Preschool and Primary school facilities on the same site. The facility will include state-of-the-art technology and futuristic educational design. The community will have access to the school after hours in the Basketball stadium, the Out of School Care Program, the community barbecue area, on the all weather fitness track and on the school oval. Community groups will also be welcome to meet in the facilities after hours. We will transfer to the new facilities in the second half of 2010.

At Wodonga South Primary School learning is an integrated process that engages students and requires them to think. Inquiry learning occurs when an authentic, meaningful event or exploration of a topic is used to develop understandings, knowledge and skills. Within the integrated Curriculum, students are involved in tuning in activities, shared experiences and activities which promote inquiry learning.

Wodonga South Primary School is a safe, happy and caring school where all students, staff and parents are consistently valued and supported in each other’s right to work and learn.
